You could also choose to have a traditional cookout featuring hot dogs and hamburgers. If children are going to be at this event, make sure that there is water, juice or other drinks options that are more appropriate for them. 

The Entertainment 

While good food is certainly a required element of a good party, it is not the only thing that you’ll need to keep your guests happy. Ideally, you will have a variety of games to play or music to listen to throughout the night. Depending on how big your yard is, it may be possible to play a pickup baseball or softball game before the sun goes down. It may also be possible to keep everyone entertained by opening the pool or throwing horseshoes. The entertainment options that you pick should be of interest to as many people as possible. Again, you may need to provide entertainment options that are suitable for children or put them to bed before turning on edgier music or playing games with crude language. 

Fun games, quality music, and comfortable seating arrangements are musts if you want to have a great backyard party. If you play your role as host right, you may eventually find that your home is the one that everyone wants to come to when it’s time for a workplace or family get together.
